Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center of St. Clair County is located in East St. Louis, IL. The Center has been in operation since 1957 serving the needs of children, adolescents, and adults. Our mission is to provide quality individualized essential services for people in need of emotional, rehabilitation, and social support. We strive to be the top-ranking Community Behavioral Healthcare Center within its size, population, and category within the State of Illinois.
Description:
This is an opportunity for a Certified Recovery Support Specialist, Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, or non-certified individual with lived experience in mental health or substance misuse, to respond immediately and assist people in crisis. The Living Room is a safe place for people to go 24/7/365 and talk with trained professional staff who understand what they are going through
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge and ability to utilize trauma-informed interventions and recovery-oriented services with individuals in crisis. Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the Living Room, Crisis Care Department, and agency staff. Ability and willingness to interact with consumers safely and independently in unstructured and structured community environments. Ability to communicate effectively Ability to promote a therapeutic and welcoming environment Ability to use Microsoft Office, electronic health records, and other reporting programs Willingness and ability to flex schedule as program needs change to accommodate 24/7 operations Ability to maintain strict client and program confidentiality Ability to relate well with a diverse group of people, including staff, clients, and the public
Duties:
Greet guests on arrival Assist case managers in the completion of suicide and homicide risk assessment screenings Work with case managers to respond to clients' needs and assist the clients in stabilizing activities Assist in de-escalation and other trauma informed interventions for the individual(s) in need Assist individuals in crisis with becoming involved in their own recovery process Maintain compliance with all Standard Operating Requirements and Procedures as defined in the Living Room Program Handbook Communicate effectively within a community team environment to meet the needs of those experiencing behavioral health crises Ensure all necessary information is collected, documented, and organized in patient health records and other necessary reporting systems Assist in the identification and coordination of referrals to appropriate programs and/or other organizations Reports to:
Living Room Manager Requirements :
High school graduate or equivalent Lived experience with recovery from mental health and / or substance use disorder Certification as Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) - or - earn certification as CRSS or CPRS within one year of hiring date Must maintain Living Room-specific training required by our agency and DMH, as well as CPR and CPI Certifications.
