Job Description

Job Overview As a PCT on the Stepdown Unit, you'll support nurses in caring for patients who require closer monitoring than a traditional med‑surg setting. You'll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and provide compassionate bedside care, including support for patients nearing the end of life. Your steady presence and attention to detail help ensure patients receive safe, high‑quality care during critical points in their recovery. You'll strengthen vital signs, mobility support, patient monitoring, communication, and learn to recognize changes in patient status in a high‑acuity environment. What You'll Do Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers Monitor and record vital signs Document patient information accurately This role includes exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation About the Stepdown Unit The Midtown Stepdown Unit is a 22‑bed unit specializing in ICU stepdown care for complex medical‑surgical, cardiac, stroke, and sepsis patients who require closer monitoring. Known for strong teamwork, structured orientation, and a healthy work environment, this unit is a great place to work. Requirements Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire High school diploma or GED preferred Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
