Description PCT Trainee- 7E Ortho/ Neuro Unit Requirements A high school diploma or equivalency is required. Current BLS training is required. Completion of nursing fundamentals or one-year experience as a nursing assistant or completion of Nursing Assistant program or current KY State CNA certification is preferred. Summary Attends Patient Care Technician assigned patient care training sessions/shifts to learn to assist with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Learns to draw blood samples from patients by skin punctures, venipunctures and/or arterial punctures, prepares patients for phlebotomies and distributes specimen to appropriate laboratory units, performs 12-lead EKGs, and other patient care within the scope of practice.
