Job Summary:
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Detox Department provides direct, hands-on care and support to individuals undergoing medical detoxification from substances. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, compassionate, and therapeutic environment for patients in early recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and document patients' vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and overall condition.
  • Assist nursing staff with medication administration and detox protocols.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients experiencing withdrawal.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure patient safety through regular rounds and observation.
  • Assist with hygiene, mobility, and basic care needs.
  • Administer psychological data collection and screening tools as assigned.
  • Respond to medical or behavioral emergencies under supervision.
  • Collaborate with nurses, counselors, and physicians to support individualized care plans.
  • Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas.
  • Collaborate with the Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) to conduct clinical assessments, facilitate group therapy sessions and educational lectures, assist with treatment and aftercare planning, address case management needs, and complete all required documentation.
Ethical adherence to strict professional codes of conduct, maintain professional boundaries, and continually engage in clinical supervision and professional growth.
  • Welcome, orient, and assist all new clients during admission in accordance with Harbor Hall policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), or Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, addiction recovery, or detox settings strongly preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally demanding environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with substance use disorders and trauma-informed care is a plus.
  • Must have a CADC or be on the CADC development plan within six months of hire.
  • You must have a valid driver's license
Work Environment:
  • 24/7 facility; shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to patients in acute withdrawal and behavioral distress.
  • Team-oriented, supportive clinical setting.
Pay:
From $20.00 per hour
