Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking experienced Pharmacy Technicians to join the hospital pharmacy team in Morristown, NJ. This position is ideal for a pharmacy technician with previous hospital pharmacy experience , strong medication distribution skills, and experience with sterile/IV preparations. The Pharmacy Technician will support pharmacists and clinical teams by accurately preparing and distributing medications, maintaining medication inventory, assisting with automated dispensing systems, and preparing sterile products in accordance with safety and quality standards. Previous hospital pharmacy experience is required. Oncology or infusion-center experience is preferred. Key Responsibilities Medication Preparation & Filling Accurately and promptly fill medication orders for pharmacist verification and dispensing. Prepare extemporaneous medications as required. Stock medication areas and replenish carts, trays, boxes, and medication kits. Perform cart and medication-bin exchanges. Return unused or discontinued medications and IVs according to department procedures. Check medication expiration dates and replace medications or supplies as needed. Document medication preparation and related activities accurately. Medication Distribution & Returns Respond professionally to medication requests received by phone, window, fax, or computer. Route requests to the appropriate pharmacist when necessary. Deliver medications throughout the hospital using pneumatic tube systems, hand delivery, or courier services. Collect, sort, and process medication returns from nursing units. Sterile & IV Preparation Prepare IV medications using appropriate aseptic/sterile technique . Batch IV medications accurately and efficiently. Document required information and ensure completed batches are properly checked and stored. Monitor IV medication levels and assist with treatment coordination. Demonstrate knowledge of IV equipment and sterile compounding practices. Follow appropriate precautions for hazardous drug handling . Assist with total parenteral nutrition (TPN) preparation as applicable. Automated Dispensing Systems Accurately replenish automated dispensing machines. Address stock-outs and failed drawers. Process discrepancy and reconciliation reports. Remove expired medications and document destruction according to policy. Perform designated monthly inspections. Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate problems when necessary. Inventory & Repackaging Repackage oral medications accurately. Ensure medications are appropriately bar-coded and labeled. Check medication expiration dates and remove outdated products. Process recalled medications according to department procedures. Maintain appropriate medication and supply inventory. Teamwork & Customer Service Support pharmacists and pharmacy staff in maintaining efficient workflow. Work collaboratively with nursing staff, physicians, patients, and other healthcare professionals. Respond to questions and concerns professionally and courteously. Participate in performance-improvement, cost-saving, and departmental initiatives. Assist with training new staff and students when appropriate. Maintain a professional and patient-focused approach at all times. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Previous hospital pharmacy experience Strong understanding of medication preparation, distribution, and inventory procedures Ability to work with pharmacy equipment and automated dispensing systems Knowledge of sterile/aseptic medication preparation Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a pharmacy team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work the required overnight schedule Required Licensure / Certification Current active registration with the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Pharmacy Technician Certificate required

PTCB certification Previous oncology or infusion-center experience
Pay:

Night Shift:
8:00 PM-7:00 AM - 7 nights on / 7 nights off? Are you able to work onsite in Morristown, NJ 07960? Are you available for a 3-5 month contract assignment with the possibility of extension? Are you comfortable with the pay rate of $20 - $25/hour? Do you have experience using the Epic EMR system? Are you authorized to work in the United States for any employer?
