Job Description

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Aultman Respiratory Care Department is a life-supporting, life-enhancing health care profession, licensed by the State of Ohio, and practiced under qualified medical direction. The overall purpose is to provide quality care to patients of all ages; from neonates to the elderly who exhibit disorders of the cardiopulmonary system. Respiratory Care is involved in the diagnostic testing, therapeutics, and monitoring of both inpatients and outpatients per physician's order.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the Respiratory Technician is to perform all duties assigned by the Unit Director, Assistant Manager, Clinical Coordinator(s) and Registered Respiratory Therapist in accordance with Aultman Hospital policy and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/degree or equivalent Good work ethic with the ability to be flexible with schedule and work responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Adheres to Aultman's policies and procedures Completes mandatory orientation, training and education.
Inventory management:
Tracking, assembly, cleaning and transport of respiratory equipment and patients Collaborate with Clinical Engineering to manage and track out of service equipment Management of respiratory supplies/carts throughout the organization Oxygen tank rounds Maintains standards of respiratory care Maintains professional communication with the multidisciplinary team Duties and projects as assigned SKILLS Must be detail-oriented Possess proficient time management skills Have ability to communicate strong and effectively. WORKING CONDITIONS
Work eight hours a day. This unit requires has 24/7 coverage. Shifts are variable to volume/workload of department. Rotation as needed. Work weekends and holidays as assigned. Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate floor coverage. Cross training to all areas in the department is required. On call coverage is assigned to cover department schedule. Staff may be assigned to different locations within the foundation.
