As a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician with UPMC Presbyterian, you'll make a meaningful difference on our team by working with our Life Changers to provide high-quality patient care. Nursing Support roles require working rotating shifts, including daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians will also be expected to work 12-hour shifts, with the possibility of a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts. All inexperienced hired candidates are required to complete a mandatory training course, with full attendance expected for the entire duration. About the
Role:
Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians provide routine patient care and support the department services in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role will be directed by nurses and/or physicians to ensure that the highest degree of quality patient care can be maintained at all times. Patient care duties may include, but are not limited to, ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients, and blood glucose), vital signs, simple dressings, EKGs, bladder scans, and all specimen collections. 12S - a 30-bed acuity adaptable General Medicine Unit. Our diverse patient population can include hepatology, urology, endocrinology, post-surgical complications, pulmonary, infectious disease and many more. This teaching unit is a great fit for those seeking to gain inpatient experience and/or expand their clinical knowledge. Our partnership with our medical teaching teams includes daily multidisciplinary bedside rounds and collaboration with discharge planning.UPMC's Nursing Support Career Ladder:

program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation, OR d)completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.
