Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated emergency response team as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, where your skills will make a life-saving difference every day. In this energetic role, you will provide immediate medical care and transportation to patients in a variety of urgent situations, ensuring safety and comfort while delivering exceptional patient care. Responsibilities Respond promptly to non-emergency calls, providing BLS care and transport for patients across diverse settings. Assess patient conditions through thorough physical examinations, vital signs measurement, and patient assessment techniques. Administer basic life support (BLS), including airway management, injection administration, medication delivery, and oxygen therapy. Perform advanced patient assessments utilizing physiology knowledge and medical terminology to determine appropriate interventions. Operate emergency vehicles safely while adhering to traffic laws; handle heavy lifting and physical exertion during patient extrication and equipment setup. Maintain aseptic techniques and proper DME (durable medical equipment) handling during patient care procedures. Collaborate with hospital staff during critical care transport, triaging patients efficiently for Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers as needed. Qualifications Valid EMT certification with current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications such as Critical Care Transport or Airway Management are a plus. Prior experience in emergency medicine, hospital settings, or urgent care environments demonstrating proficiency in patient care and assessment. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, venipuncture, and medication administration protocols. Experience with emergency room procedures, trauma response, triage processes, and critical care procedures is highly desirable. Ability to drive emergency vehicles safely under pressure while managing heavy lifting tasks during patient extrication or equipment setup. Excellent communication skills for clear documentation of vital signs, patient condition reports, and incident documentation. Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking during shifts.
