Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates correct stabilization and immobilization of spine and proper fitting of splints for extremities; Demonstrates ability to assess neurovascular status after splint application and reports deviations to Registered Nurse and physician. Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility and aeromedical (per policy of Operating Unit); Arranges interfacility transport from freestanding Emergency departments. Collects patient specimens following department/facility policies and procedures; Assists mid-level providers and physicians with collecting, labeling and transporting irretrievable specimens. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment; Coordinates with materials management to ensure appropriate stock and minimize outdated stock. Obtains 12 lead ECG per physician order and provides ECG to physician for review immediately upon completion. Reviews Medical Director orders as related to disease state; Monitors and reports patients' progress towards expected outcomes and deviations to Registered Nurse. Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to provide patients with optimum care.

Training:

Must be available for six (6) weeks of paid training, consisting of, Virtual modules Classroom-style sessions: 8AM - 4:30PM On-unit training with department hired into (times TBD)

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

1 year of EMT-B experience

Education:

High School Diploma or GED Certification:

BLS from American Heart Association EMT-B; must either be active on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or possess a current

Virginia EMT License/Certification Special Skills:

Able to read, write, speak and understand English. Computer skills.
