More about our team The Surgery Department at North Alabama Shoals Hospital offers RNs a supportive, patient-focused environment where teamwork and high-quality care are at the center of everything they do. How you'll contribute A Surgery Manager who excels in this role: The Surgery Manager role oversees multiple departments, providing strategic direction, managing subordinate leaders, and establishing long-term goals. The position requires strong independent judgment, discretion, and adaptability when handling complex decisions, confidential information, and non-routine matters. The role works closely with senior leadership, healthcare professionals, and external vendors and may function as a staff-level RN when needed to support clinical operations. Oversees daily Surgical Services operations and quality of patient care. Manages department budgets, resources, supplies, and equipment. Leads performance improvement and problem-solving initiatives. Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, leadership, and other departments. Ensures compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and confidentiality. Supervisory Responsibilities Establishes objectives and organizational structure for Surgical Services and ensures alignment with hospital policies and strategic goals. Directly oversees the OR, PAT, Central Sterile Processing, Ambulatory Services, and Endoscopy departments. Recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates surgical services staff, including nurses and technologists. Manages employee performance, including evaluations, promotions, salary adjustments, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Facilitates staff development, competency assessments, orientation, and clinical education while fostering a collaborative, professional work environment. What we're looking for : Applicants should have a current state RN license.
Additional requirements include:
Current Alabama State Board Of Nursing license, BLS required;
ACLS/PALS
as applicable. Basic Life Support certification is required within 14 days of hire. Minimum 7-10 years of work experience in which management skills have been demonstrated. Requires 5-7 years of surgery experience.
