This is a dual-impact role for a clinician who enjoys both direct client care and clinical leadership . The Lead Clinician will provide individual and group therapy, complete assessments and treatment planning, support crisis intervention and safety planning, and provide clinical oversight to the behavioral health team. The ideal candidate is an independently licensed clinician such as an
LCSW, LISAC/LIAC, LPC, LMFT
, or other qualified Behavioral Health Professional in Arizona who is confident in outpatient behavioral health care, compliance, documentation, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities As the Lead Clinician / Behavioral Health Professional, you will: Provide in-person individual and group therapy services using evidence-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered approaches. Complete clinical assessments, treatment plans, progress documentation, safety plans, and other required behavioral health documentation. Support clients in achieving measurable progress toward individualized treatment goals. Provide crisis intervention, clinical judgment, mandated reporting, and coordination of care when safety concerns arise. Collaborate with psychiatric providers, case managers, behavioral health technicians, group facilitators, leadership, and external referral partners. Provide clinical oversight, supervision, training, and support to the Behavioral Health Team. Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, outpatient department meetings, leadership meetings, chart reviews, audits, and quality improvement activities. Help ensure services remain compliant with AZDHS Article 1 & Article 10 , HIPAA, patient rights requirements, agency policies, and outpatient treatment standards. Maintain timely, accurate, audit-ready documentation that supports medical necessity and regulatory compliance. Assist with curriculum evaluation, program improvement, staff performance feedback, incident reporting, and corrective action processes as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates must have: An active, independent Arizona behavioral health license, such as: LCSW — Licensed Clinical Social Worker
LISAC / LIAC
— Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor / Addiction CounselorLPC — Licensed Professional CounselorLMFT — Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Or another qualifying independent behavioral health license Experience working in outpatient treatment centers, behavioral health programs, or similar clinical settings. Experience providing in-person individual and group therapy. Strong knowledge of behavioral health documentation, treatment planning, clinical compliance, and medical necessity. Knowledge and/or experience with AZDHS regulations , including Article 1 & Article 10 . Experience using EHR systems and completing clinical documentation. Strong professional boundaries, ethical judgment, confidentiality practices, and client-centered care skills. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background checks, registry clearances, and licensure verification. Ability to complete required onboarding, trainings, certifications, assessments, and outpatient treatment center requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing clinical supervision or oversight to behavioral health staff. Experience with chart audits, documentation reviews, incident reports, mandated reporting, and quality management. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatric providers, case managers, BHTs, therapists, and leadership. Strong comfort leading clinical trainings, staff consultations, and program improvement efforts. Experience in Arizona outpatient behavioral health, AHCCCS-funded services, or Joint Commission-oriented settings.
