As a part of the UPM team, the New Patient Assistant Coordinator is the first person a patient interacts with when calling to schedule an appointment. Only experienced candidates with demonstrated high level of customer service skills will be considered for this position. Travel to our Palmdale office for training is mandatory.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcomes patients, family members and other visitors to the practice. Verifies insurances. Knowledgeable of HMO Medicare and PPO insurances Personal injury verification and scheduling Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Schedules patients for their first visit. Obtains medical records before the visit. Receives incoming calls and provides appropriate responses or directs calls to the proper individual. Takes accurate messages. Scans medical documents and patient information into the electronic medical records system. Monitors incoming faxes and distributes to appropriate personnel. Responds to and complies with requests for information. Obtains external medical reports as requested by providers. Back-up timekeeper when needed. Co-pay collection and coverage for the front office when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES
Excellent customer services skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Is a team player and has the ability to work well with physicians, coworkers, patients and others. Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Utmost level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good command of the English language both verbal and written Bilingual Excellent computer skills. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Dependable with very few unexpected absences. Learn timekeeping, which requires a high level of attention to detail.
