Scholars Program Ready for a role where you are helping lead it? The YMCA Y Scholars Program is looking for Assistant Site Coordinators who are ready to take on greater responsibility, develop others, and help create an afterschool experience where students and staff can thrive. As an Assistant Site Coordinator, you'll work side-by-side with a Site Coordinator to help lead a program serving approximately 100 students each day. You'll coach team members, strengthen program quality, solve problems, support daily operations, and help turn expectations into action. You'll also be the person ready to step forward when leadership is needed. This is an opportunity to build real management experience while staying connected to the young people who make this work meaningful. You'll receive coaching and support—but you'll also be trusted with real responsibility from day one. Full-Time, Non-Exempt | 40 hours/week
Middle School:
Part-Time, Non-Exempt | 28 hours/week

Full-Time Schedule:
Full-time Assistant Site Coordinators work year-round on a combined YMCA and school district calendar. Most work takes place during the school year, with additional scheduled programming when schools are closed. This typically includes district professional development days, one week during winter break, one week during spring break, and approximately 6-7 weeks of summer programming. YMCA Your Role:
Be the Second Leader A strong Assistant Site Coordinator doesn't wait on the sidelines for someone else to make things happen. You notice what the program needs and help move it forward. You'll serve as the Site Coordinator's leadership partner, helping manage the people, systems, and daily priorities that create an excellent experience for students. Some days, that means coaching a Group Leader through a challenge. Other days, it means jumping into a student group, solving an operational issue, reviewing program data, supporting a family, or helping the team reset when something isn't working. And when the Site Coordinator isn't there? You'll be ready to lead the site.
Your responsibilities will include:
Helping lead the daily operation of an afterschool program serving approximately 100 students Partnering with the Site Coordinator to establish expectations, priorities, and goals for the team Coaching, supporting, and developing Group Leaders and other team members Stepping into site leadership when the Site Coordinator is absent Leading a student group when staffing or program needs require additional support Training and onboarding new team members as they learn their roles Modeling strong youth development practices and professional expectations Observing program activities and providing meaningful feedback to strengthen staff performance Completing program observations, assessments, and quality improvement activities Collecting and reviewing program data to identify progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement Helping maintain strong systems for organization, communication, safety, and accountability Supporting positive relationships with students, families, school partners, and YMCA team members Participating fully in meetings, trainings, coaching, and professional development Learning and applying promising practices in afterschool programming and youth development Taking ownership of projects and responsibilities that help the entire site succeed What We're Looking For.
Required Qualifications:
At least 2 years of experience in youth development or youth programming Must be 18 years of age or older At least 48 completed college units or a passing score on the Instructional Aide Exam Need to take the exam? We'll support you through the process. Ability to successfully complete DOJ/FBI background checks CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 30 days of hire Certification is provided at no cost to you. Reliable transportation and the ability to consistently travel to program sites, meetings, and trainings Comfort using technology and program systems, including Google Drive, Airtable, Zoom, and similar tools The Kind of Leader We're Looking For We're not looking for someone who already has every answer.
