WALT and BACA are owned by the Hall Family, whose reputation for outstanding wine and hospitality is far-reaching. WALT makes world-class pinot noir and chardonnay from premiere vineyards across the Pacific Coast. BACA makes Zinfandel from pedigreed California vineyards.
Position Overview:
The Hospitality and Tasting Room Manager oversees all Guest experiences at
WALT & BACA.
He or she is responsible for driving traffic and sales including wine club acquisition and will recruit, train and motivate staff as well as maintain the facilities. The right candidate is a proven manager with exceptional organizational and people skills. He or she has a positive attitude, is willing to try new things to drive growth and is calm under pressure. This position reports to the Director of Hospitality. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Lead the Tasting Room team to achieve business priorities: membership conversion, wine sales and brand positioning. Outreach to other businesses and organizations to drive qualified traffic to the Tasting Room. Oversee the customer experience including tours, events, and other duties as required. Innovate to enhance the guest experience, save on expenditures, and improve employee morale. Create strategic plans including a Sales Plan, individual and team goals, SOPs, staff training and development, event standards, budgets, and all related administration. Coordinate sales plans and promotions with the other Hospitality Managers and sales teams. Responsible for the overall experience at the facility, including managing maintenance projects. Establish standards for administration, pricing, budgeting, record keeping, inventory control, safety and security. Completes annual budgets, tracks budget performance & prepares monthly management critiques on financial performance. Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations. Recruiting, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving problems in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience 3-5 years management experience in Tasting Rooms or Hospitality Wine knowledge and enthusiasm. (Passion for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel a plus!) Experience creating marketing and sales plans, sales goals, expense budgets Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Ability to learn different sales, POS and CRM platforms General bookkeeping practices Available to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and occasional evenings Must agree to participate in random drug testing as required Physical requirements: Requires continuous standing and carrying less than 50 lbs.; occasional climbing, stooping, twisting and fine manipulation; intermittent bending. Hours & days required: Must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and evenings.
