Job Description

Overview Our healthcare facility is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Patient Access & Insurance Coordinator. The chosen candidate combines patient-facing front office operations with the technical task of securing insurance approvals for medical services bridging the gap between patient care and billing. This hybrid role acts as the "face of the practice" at the front desk while managing the technical tasks of insurance verification and authorization. The ideal candidate ensures patient satisfaction from scheduling to check-out while maximizing revenue through accurate, proactive eligibility, authorization and data management.
Key Responsibilities:
Front Office & Patient Experience:
Manage patient reception, check-in/check-out, scheduling, and rooming patients, ensuring a welcoming environment and efficient patient flow.
Insurance Verification & Authorization:
Proactively verify PPO/HMO coverage for new patients and referrals, and update existing patient information in the system. Call insurance payers or access insurance portals to obtain pre-authorizations for services, requiring high proficiency in phone communication and medical terminology.
Financial Counseling:
Calculate patient financial responsibility (deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance) and communicate these requirements clearly to patients before services are rendered.
Revenue Cycle Support:
Resolve claim denials and discrepancies by conducting follow-ups with insurance providers, assisting the billing department and ensuring all documentation is accurate.
Clinical Support:
Assist with clinical tasks, including rooming patients and turning over exam rooms to ensure efficient workflow.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
Proven experience in a medical office, focusing on patient reception, insurance authorization, or medical billing.
Technical Proficiency:
Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, PPO/HMO plans, and medical terminology including to
CPT AND ICD-10/ICD-9.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in explaining financial responsibility to patients.
Organization:
Highly detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Compliance:
Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security while supporting our commitment to patient satisfaction and regulatory compliance!
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour
