Southern California Pay:

Up to $265,000 per year + 15% incentive An exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Perioperative leader to join a 500+ bed, Magnet-designated hospital in Southern California with a highly respected executive team, significant surgical growth plans, and a major hospital expansion already underway. This role reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and oversees Perioperative Services across two hospital locations, with primary responsibility based at the larger campus. The Opportunity This is a highly visible Perioperative leadership role with responsibility for: Operating Room Same Day Surgery / Surgical Services PACU Sterile Processing GI Services Perioperative operations across two hospital locations Approximately four Managers within the leadership structure Although titled Director , the position carries the scope and responsibility traditionally associated with an Executive Director-level Perioperative role. The organization is looking for someone who can operate comfortably at both ends of the leadership spectrum: polished enough to represent Perioperative Services at the executive level, but operational enough to roll up their sleeves when the OR needs them.

High Executive Visibility:

Partner closely with physicians, surgeons, senior executives, and organizational leadership. The Director may also participate in conversations with major donors and other external stakeholders.

Large, Complex Environment:

Lead Perioperative Services within a 500+ bed Magnet hospital while supporting operations across an additional hospital campus. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational leadership for the full Perioperative service line. Lead OR, Same Day Surgery, PACU, SPD, GI, and related surgical operations. Mentor and develop Perioperative Managers while building accountability across the leadership team. Partner closely with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing leadership, and hospital executives. Build strong physician relationships and support surgeon recruitment, retention, and engagement. Develop strategies to increase surgical volume and support long-term service line growth. Optimize staffing, productivity, throughput, block utilization, quality, and operational performance. Maintain strong clinical credibility and remain close enough to operations to step in and support the team when necessary. Lead quality, patient safety, regulatory readiness, and performance improvement initiatives. Oversee budgets, capital planning, resource utilization, and overall service line performance. Represent Perioperative Services effectively with executive leadership and other internal and external stakeholders. Background Current California RN license Master's Degree in Nursing, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a Master's Degree in a relevant field of management, administration, or policy Significant acute-care hospital Perioperative leadership experience Strong Director or Executive Director-level background Experience leading Perioperative Services within a large or complex hospital environment Strong operational knowledge of the OR and surgical services Demonstrated success building relationships with surgeons and physicians Experience supporting or driving surgical growth Strong financial, operational, quality, and staffing oversight Experience leading multiple Perioperative departments Ability to provide leadership across multiple hospital locations The Leader They Want Three things will matter most: Operational credibility.
