Lead Hospital Technician — Newtown, CT

Fairfield Equine is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Hospital Technician to join our equine hospital team in Newtown, CT . The Lead Hospital Technician will oversee the day-to-day hospital team, with a focus on leadership, patient care, scheduling, organization, and problem-solving . This is a hands-on leadership position in a busy equine sports medicine practice. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the hospital technician team. Coordinate hospital and staff schedules, including holidays and on-call coverage. Assist with onboarding and training new team members. Schedule hospital appointments, procedures, imaging, and farrier services. Assist with exams, procedures, imaging, and daytime surgeries as needed. Support daily horse care, treatments, and hospital operations. Monitor billing, deposits, and client balances. Manage inventory and ordering of hospital supplies, hay, grain, and bedding. Participate in staff meetings, leadership meetings, and team check-ins. Communicate schedules, staffing needs, and hospital maintenance concerns to practice leadership. Participate in the hospital on-call rotation. Qualifications Experience working with horses in a veterinary setting preferred. Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Strong horse-handling skills. Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills. Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment. Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Equine veterinary technician experience and/or LVT credentials are a plus. Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. and jog horses for lameness exams. About Fairfield Equine Fairfield Equine is a multi-veterinarian equine sports medicine practice offering lameness, surgery, MRI, scintigraphy, 24-hour emergency care, ambulatory services, wellness, and advanced diagnostic imaging .
Pay:
$23.00 - $26.00 per hour
