Job Summary and Qualifications The P PS Coordinator ( Prospective Payment System ) manages the completion and submission of patient assessment forms for inpatient rehabilitation units to ensure correct reimbursement and government compliance. "PPS" is the system Medicare uses to pay facilities a set amount based on patient care needs . T h is role focuses heavily on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI).

Key Responsibilities Assessment Management :

Coordinate, complete, and submit IRF-PAI patient assessments within required time frames .

Documentation Review :

Check clinical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal guidelines.

Team Collaboration:

Work with doctors, nurses, and therapists to validate patient data and verify proper patient classification.

Auditing:

Conduct regular chart audits to ensure billing and clinical documentation match. Staff Educa t i on : Teach clinical staff about documentation rules and best practices. [1, 2 ] Qualifications and Req u irements

Licensure:

Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN), Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech Therapist (ST).

Experience:

At least two years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital or inpatient rehab setting (inpatient rehab is preferred).

Skills:
