Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk Patient Coordinator to serve as the first point of contact for patients within our MDVIP Family Medical Practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong administrative capabilities, and a thorough understanding of medical office procedures. This role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate patient documentation, and exceptional patient service. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service at the front desk. Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Athenahealth. Verify patient insurance coverage and assist with health insurance inquiries, including Medicare, Group and Individual plans. Collect and process payments, perform medical collections, and manage billing procedures accurately. Review and update patient medical records while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA confidentiality policies. Assist with documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and ensure proper medical billing practices. Manage phone communication with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies using professional phone etiquette. Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and ensure compliance with health information management standards. Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and facilitating communication between patients and providers. Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech to document patient interactions thoroughly and accurately. Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is required, preferably within a clinic or dental clinic experience. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, Medicare procedures, and medical billing practices. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms. Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated customer service skills with a professional phone manner and effective communication abilities. Bilingual English and Spanish capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with basic computer skills such as typing and 10-key operation. Office experience involving clerical support, filing, and electronic health records management is preferred.
