Job Description Job Description Patient Care Coordinator Position Summary:
The Patient Care Coordinator (Legal) serves as the primary liaison between patients, attorneys, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal staff. This role oversees daily patient coordination activities, ensures timely collection and management of medical documentation, maintains compliance with HIPAA and legal requirements, and provides leadership to the patient care coordination team. The Lead Coordinator is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting legal case management and ensuring efficient workflow operations. Key Responsibilities Coordinate communication between patients, attorneys, medical providers, insurance companies, and internal legal staff. Monitor patient cases to ensure all required medical records, authorizations, and documentation are obtained accurately and on time. Review incoming records for completeness and follow up on outstanding requests. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate patient and case information within the case management system. Assist attorneys and legal staff by preparing case documentation and organizing medical records. Resolve complex patient concerns and escalate issues when necessary. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent work experience considered. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in patient care coordination, legal case management, medical records, or healthcare administration. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and legal documentation processes. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a personal injury, workers' compensation, or medical malpractice law firm. Familiarity with medical lien management and legal record requests. Bilingual skills are a plus.
