Florida Eye Institute & Florida Eye Institute SurgiCenter Vero Beach, Florida Florida Eye Institute and Florida Eye Institute SurgiCenter are seeking an experienced, highly organized Medical Billing Supervisor to work closely with ourbilling company and to lead and oversee our internal billing and revenue cycle operations for our ophthalmology practice and outpatient surgery center. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands medical billing from beginning to end and can effectively supervise staff while ensuring claims are submitted accurately, payments are collected promptly, and outstanding accounts are aggressively followed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Medical Billing Supervisor will be responsible for: Supervising and supporting the medical billing and collections team Overseeing billing for both the ophthalmology practice and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) Monitoring the complete revenue cycle from charge entry through final payment Monitoring insurance and patient accounts receivable Reviewing aging reports and establishing priorities for outstanding accounts Monitoring staff productivity and accountability Identifying billing errors and implementing corrective procedures Ensuring accurate payment posting and contractual adjustments Reviewing coding and documentation issues affecting reimbursement Monitoring insurance eligibility, authorizations, and referrals as applicable Assisting with Medicare and commercial payer billing requirements Maintaining compliance with HIPAA and applicable billing regulations Providing management with regular reports on collections, A/R, denials, and billing performance Working directly with physicians, administration, clinical staff, and front-office personnel to resolve revenue-cycle issues
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Minimum 3 years of medical billing/revenue cycle experience Previous supervisory or management experience Strong knowledge of insurance billing, collections, denials, and appeals Experience working with Medicare and commercial insurance carriers Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail Ability to hold staff accountable while maintaining a professional work environment Ability to analyze A/R reports and identify problems affecting collections Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly Preferred:
Ophthalmology billing experience Experience with Modernizing Medicine EMR Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) billing experience Knowledge of ophthalmology CPT and ICD-10 coding Experience with surgical billing, modifiers, global periods, and medical/surgical insurance authorizations Experience managing a high-volume medical billing department
