This position is ideal for a motivated Medical Assistant who enjoys direct patient care while also taking an active role in patient communication, follow-up, and care coordination. This position involves rooming patients, assisting providers with procedures, documenting patient information, and supporting efficient clinical operations. Additional responsibilities include communicating with patients regarding results and treatment plans, assisting with surgical scheduling, coordinating follow-up care, and completing administrative tasks that support the patient journey. The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, organized, and committed to providing outstanding patient care in a fast-paced specialty practice. Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Medical Assistant Duties (Primary Responsibilities) Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by obtaining medical histories and updating patient records. Escort patients to examination rooms and support efficient patient flow throughout the clinic. Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR). Assist dermatology providers and Mohs surgeon during examinations and procedures. Support biopsies, surgical procedures, wound care, and additional clinical treatments as directed. Educate patients and reinforce provider instructions regarding treatment plans and follow-up care. Room patients efficiently while maintaining a high standard of customer service and professionalism. Maintain examination rooms, clinical equipment, and medical supplies. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters. Adhere to HIPAA requirements and all clinic protocols. Work collaboratively with providers and team members to maintain efficient daily clinic operations. Assist with additional clinical and clerical responsibilities as needed. Patient Care & Coordination Duties (Secondary Responsibilities) Communicate pathology, laboratory, and biopsy results to patients as directed by providers. Schedule surgeries, procedures, follow-up visits, and treatment appointments. Assist patients with questions and facilitate communication between patients and providers. Help coordinate referrals, authorizations, and supporting documentation when necessary. Support patient follow-up efforts to ensure continuity of care. Assist with medical records requests and related documentation. Perform administrative and clerical duties that support patient care and clinical operations. Basic Qualifications Either a four-year Bachelor's Degree or 1-2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in a medical practice is strongly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical workflows. Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) systems. Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills. Excellent customer service and patient communication abilities. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Professional, dependable, and willing to learn new responsibilities. Ability to be a team player. Preferred Qualifications Experience in dermatology, Mohs surgery, plastic surgery, or another specialty medical setting. Previous experience communicating pathology results or coordinating patient follow-up care. Commitment to stay in healthcare as your career. Familiarity with surgical scheduling, insurance processes, and healthcare administrative workflows. Strong understanding of medical office operations and patient flow management.
