Job Description
Wellstar Health System seeks a Supervisor Clinical Pathology Services for the night shift to lead operations in a busy hospital laboratory. In this onsite role, you will supervise technologists and support staff, oversee accurate and timely testing, and ensure strict adherence to CLIA, CAP, and hospital standards. You will coordinate staffing, training, and workflow, monitor quality metrics, and drive process improvements. Partner with physicians and clinical teams to support patient-centered care while fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the lab. Responsibilities Supervise night shift clinical pathology operations and staff Oversee specimen processing, testing accuracy, and quality control Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and hospital policies Coordinate workflow, staffing, and scheduling for night operations Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and lab leadership on priorities Train, mentor, and evaluate technologists and support staff Monitor turnaround times and implement process improvements Maintain documentation, incident reports, and performance metrics Support implementation of new tests, technologies, and protocols Promote a culture of safety, compassion, and patient-centered care Required Skills Clinical laboratory testing and pathology workflows Quality control and quality assurance in clinical labs CLIA and CAP regulatory compliance Laboratory information systems (LIS) and EMR integration Staff supervision, scheduling, and performance management Specimen handling, processing, and safety protocols Data analysis, metrics tracking, and reporting Process improvement and Lean/Six Sigma concepts Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams Night shift operations management
