Piedmont Healthcare is seeking an Emergency Flow Coordinator to optimize patient throughput in our busy emergency department. In this role, you will monitor bed capacity, wait times, and patient acuity to coordinate safe, efficient movement from arrival through discharge or admission. You'll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and registration teams, using EMR and tracking tools to anticipate barriers, reduce delays, and support patient-centered care. Responsibilities Coordinate patient flow through the emergency department to support timely, high-quality care. Monitor bed availability, wait times, and acuity to prioritize patient placement. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and registration staff to reduce bottlenecks and delays. Communicate status updates and care transitions to clinical and administrative teams. Use EMR and tracking systems to monitor patient movement and documentation needs. Escalate issues impacting throughput, such as staffing or capacity constraints. Support patient safety, service excellence, and regulatory compliance in daily operations. Assist with data collection and reporting on throughput and performance metrics.
