Job Description
Clinical Director / Group Counselor Who We Are Waymark Recovery Centers is a community-rooted outpatient behavioral health organization located at 4949 Harrison Avenue, Rockford, Illinois. We offer Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and outpatient services built on a clinical foundation that blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with proven 12-Step principles. We are opening in late August 2025 and are building a recovery program centered on genuine care, accountability, and lasting transformation for individuals and families in our community. Population We Serve We serve adults recovering from substance use disorders, including alcohol, opioids, cocaine/crack cocaine, stimulants, and other illicit substances. Clients may arrive voluntarily or through referrals from courts, hospitals, or community partners. Role Overview This is a foundational leadership role at Waymark Recovery Centers. The Clinical Director / Group Counselor will help build the clinical infrastructure of the organization while also providing direct client care through group and individual counseling. In the early stages, this role combines hands-on counseling responsibilities with clinical leadership. As the organization grows, the role is expected to evolve primarily into clinical leadership and supervision. Responsibilities Develop and oversee the clinical program model Facilitate IOP and outpatient group counseling sessions Conduct individual counseling sessions and assessments Complete clinical documentation including treatment plans and progress notes Ensure compliance with Illinois IDPH and SUPR standards Respond to missed intake calls the same business day Provide clinical supervision as the team grows Collaborate with peer support and administrative staff Participate in weekly team meetings and program development Qualifications Active Illinois LCSW or LCPC license required Minimum 2 years of experience in substance use disorder treatment Experience facilitating group therapy preferred Familiarity with CBT modalities and 12-Step principles Strong documentation and compliance skills Passion for helping adults in recovery Compensation & Benefits $65,000-$75,000 annually Paid time off Health insurance contribution Continuing education/training support Full-time position Schedule & Location Full-time 4949 Harrison Avenue, Rockford, IL Schedule aligned with IOP programming hours Our Culture Waymark Recovery Centers is building a mission-driven, family-oriented culture where staff feel valued and supported while maintaining high clinical standards.
