Job Description
The Kansas Soldiers' Home at Fort Dodge is seeking an experienced healthcare leader to serve as Superintendent and oversee the overall operations of the Home. The Superintendent is responsible for providing leadership and direction for resident services, regulatory compliance, staffing, financial performance, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have healthcare and/or long-term care leadership experience and must be comfortable working in an environment that includes residents with behavioral health needs. Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Plan, organize, and direct the overall operations of the Kansas Soldiers' Home. Ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents and staff. Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, policies, procedures, and certification requirements. Provide leadership and oversight of resident care, behavioral health needs, services, and rehabilitation programs. Oversee budgeting, fiscal accountability, strategic planning, and operational performance. Maintain regulatory survey readiness and appropriate compliance and risk-management programs. Recruit, supervise, evaluate, coach, and develop employees and department leaders. Work with leadership to improve quality, efficiency, compliance, and resident services. Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, veterans' organizations, government agencies, and community partners. Represent the Kansas Soldiers' Home at meetings and other functions as appropriate. Serve as the facility's HIPAA Compliance Officer and Freedom of Information Act Officer. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Strong healthcare leadership and management experience. Ability to effectively lead department heads and multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills. Must be comfortable working with residents who may have complex behavioral health needs. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree. Three or more years of healthcare and/or long-term care experience. Adult Care Administrator licensure. Experience working with or overseeing behavioral health populations. Experience with healthcare regulatory compliance, budgeting, personnel management, and quality improvement. Contract Requirement The selected candidate will begin as a 1099 independent contractor , with annual compensation of $130,000 - $140,000 based on experience and qualifications. There may be an opportunity to transition into a permanent position in the future based on organizational needs; however, permanent employment is not guaranteed.
