Hours:
40-Hours, Days $28.27 - $37.30 We are committed to equitable and transparent compensation practices. Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Admissions Coordinator reads through & screens referrals for the hospital's in-house psychiatric units (adult mental health unit & geriatric psychiatry unit). The BH Admissions Coordinator manages any crisis evaluation that is dispositioned for inpatient level of care to ensure timely placement occurs. The BH Admissions Coordinator will work with the Heywood BH inpatient units to facilitate a seamless transition for any ER patients accepted for admission. The BH Admissions Coordinator will verify active insurance coverage exists - for patients accepted to the Heywood inpatient behavioral health units where no insurance exists will contact the financial counselor to meet with the patient. The BH Admissions Coordinator will be responsible for uploading to Point Click Care any ER patients deemed an inpatient bed search who are being outsourced. The BH Admissions coordinator will collaborate with the BH clinical team, Emergency Department, Medical Departments (when applicable) as well as provide patients/families/caregivers/HCP through admission paperwork.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions Screen referrals for patients awaiting placement to an inpatient psychiatric unit - identifying potential placement to Heywood inpatient behavioral health units. The BH Admissions Coordinator manages any crisis evaluation that is dispositioned for inpatient level of care to ensure timely placement occurs. Verify active insurance and request authorizations when required. Contact the financial counselor for patients accepted to Heywood inpatient behavioral health who have no active insurance. Responsible for uploading to Point Click Care any ER patients deemed an inpatient bed search who are being outsourced. Collaborate with the BH clinical team, Emergency Department, Medical Departments (when applicable) as well as provide patients/families/caregivers/HCP through admission paperwork. Maintain timely and accurate EMR documentation throughout the referral and admission process while adhering to all patient privacy and confidentiality requirements. Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Job Requirements Minimum Education Bachelor's degree in a human services field preferred or equivalent lived experience navigating the behavioral health system for a loved one or themselves and who could serve as a Peer Support for patients when appropriate. Minimum Work Experience At least 2 years of case management experience preferred. At least 2 years working in a behavioral health setting preferred. Familiarity with navigating Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system & Point Click Care platform preferred. Required Skills Knowledgeable about the behavioral health system & local community resources. Comfortable with providing brief mental health support to patients over the phone. Ability to coordinate care for patients with behavioral health challenges. Knowledge of insurance verification processes & obtaining prior authorizations. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Understanding of HIPAA compliance & patient privacy laws. Familiarity with medical & mental health terminology & levels of care.
