Job Description

To design, direct, and evaluate a comprehensive district-wide health and wellness program. This administrator compliance with Massachusetts public health laws, establishes unified medical and behavioral health protocols, and provides administrative and clinical leadership to both school nursing and school-based mental health staff (counselors, social workers, and psychologists) to support the holistic physical, social, emotional, and academic success of all students.

Duties:

• Recruit hire, supervise and evaluate school nurses
  
• Cover building needs when shortages of nursing staff occur.
  
• Oversee the district's Medication Administration Program and maintain the district's Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration.
  
• Direct district compliance with Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L> c.71, 57) regarding mandatory screenings (vision, hearing, postural, and DPH immunization requirements.
  
• Collaborate with the District School Physician to develop, review, and issue clinical guidelines, standing orders, and emergency medication protocols.
  
• Oversee medical accommodations, including individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), section 504 accommodation plans, and health components of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  
• Facilitate collaborative, cross-functional clinical teams (nursing and mental health) at each school to ensure seamless care coordination for high-acuity students
  
• Coordinate mandatory professional development, including

DESE/DPH

nursing orientations, evidence-based mental health methodologies (e.g., CBT, DBT, Trauma-Informed Care), and state-mandated suicide prevention training (M.G.L. c. 71, § 95).

• Monitor and document district-wide crisis response procedures, standardizing protocols for risk assessments (suicidal/homicidal ideation), safety planning and re-entry after hospitalization.
  
• Oversee the implementation of the Medical and Behavioral Health Emergency Response Plan.
  
• Serve as a district lead with local Community Behavioral Health Centers, crisis teams and other providers.
  
• Manage the implementation of SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) and other mandates from Massachusetts state guidelines.
  
• Support the implementation of the District's Restorative Practices Implementation Plan
  
• Oversee and assist with summer school nursing coverage and concerns
  
• Oversee medical compliance and procedures on all field trips
  
• Other duties assigned by the Superintendent
