2989941613-2 Apply for this job now Job Description First Cook at Hebrew SeniorLife plays a key role in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to older adults in a healthcare and senior living setting. You will prepare hot and cold menu items, oversee line production, and ensure safe food handling that meets regulatory standards and special dietary needs. Working in a collaborative culinary and clinical team, you'll help develop and execute menus that support residents' health, cultural preferences, and dignity while mentoring junior staff and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen operation. Responsibilities Prepare and cook hot and cold menu items for residents and patients Follow standardized recipes and portion controls for high-volume service Support and implement therapeutic and special diets per clinical guidelines Ensure strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards Monitor and record food temperatures and holding procedures Coordinate line setup, service timing, and plating quality Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and equipment Assist with inventory rotation and proper food storage Collaborate with dietitians, nursing, and culinary staff on resident needs Help train and mentor culinary aides and junior cooks Required Skills Menu execution Quantity food production Special diet preparation Food safety and sanitation Knife skills Batch cooking Temperature monitoring and logging Inventory and ordering support Team leadership on line Time management
