Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and home to Baystate Medical Center, Western Massachusetts' only academic medical center, level 1 trauma center and pediatric hospital is looking for a Assistant Clinical Nutrition Manager to join and support our Clinical Nutrition departments across Western Massachusetts.
Clinical Nutrition Department:
Reports to Clinical Nutrition Manager for Baystate Healthcare System Join a large, supportive community of dietitians dedicated to elevating clinical nutrition care through evidenced based medical nutrition therapy and a hands-on clinical approach Opportunities in both adult and pediatric service lines Our respected registered dietitians have been granted broad order writing privileges
SCHEDULE
Full-time, 40 hours/week 8am-5pm Rotating weekday, weekend, and holiday coverage.
LOCATION
: Baystate Medical Center
  • Springfield, MA To also support community hospitals: Baystate Franklin Medical Center (Greenfield, MA), Wing Hospital (Palmer, MA), and Noble Hospital (Westfield, MA)
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Expert knowledge Demonstrates expert knowledge and skill in clinical specialty Continually seeks and engages in continuing education opportunities appropriate to the patient population Assists in evaluating and implementing up to date evidence-based and evidence-informed practice guidelines Demonstrates innovative/creative approaches to problem-solving Provides patient/family-centered care Maintains staff competency Performs ongoing competency evaluation Conducts chart audits and provides feedback Reviews staff clinical ladder submissions annually Verifies CDR registration and MA license status Creates and implements staff development plans Conducts annual evaluations Provides ongoing performance feedback Inspires, transforms and achieves outcomes in staff learning through formal/informal teaching (including bedside teaching) Educates, mentors, and acts as a consultant in the delivery of care that translates into excellence in knowledge, skill, and leadership at the bedside Mentors staff in career/professional development, role transition, and succession planning Manages new hire onboarding process Arranges for workspace and office supplies Orients staff to all pertinent software, including EMR Mentors staff in the synthesis of information and critical thinking Mentors staff in all areas of clinical practice, including PN and EN management Leadership Demonstrates project management skills Advances the role of Clinical Nutrition in patient care Role models professionalism and organizational values Networks within and outside of BH to enhance clinical practice
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree
  • Food & Nutrition, Dietetics, Human Nutrition or related field; completion of accredited DPD program Master's Degree preferred and required for those who became certified RD in 2024 or thereafter 5 years of acute care clinical experience required.
Leadership capabilities and skills essential Adult learner knowledge and expertise Supervisory or project management experience
