Role Description The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Institutional Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based in Bethesda, MD. This position oversees and coordinates institutional-level graduate medical education activities, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies. The administrator manages documentation, prepares reports, and supports program reviews and site visits in collaboration with program directors, faculty, and institutional leadership. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining GME databases, tracking resident and fellow appointments, supporting onboarding and orientation processes, and coordinating communications among stakeholders. The role also involves developing and updating policies, assisting with budgeting and resource planning for GME programs, organizing meetings and committees, and providing ongoing administrative support to enhance the educational environment. Qualifications Experience in graduate medical education administration or related academic healthcare administration, including familiarity with GME structures and processes. Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements (e.g., ACGME standards, institutional policies, and applicable federal regulations) and ability to support compliance efforts. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines. Proficiency with office productivity tools, databases, and electronic record systems commonly used in educational and healthcare settings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, policy documents, and professional correspondence. Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, trainees, faculty, and administrative staff, and to build productive working relationships across departments. Attention to detail, analytical skills, and sound judgment for interpreting policies, resolving issues, and improving administrative processes. Bachelor's degree in education, healthcare administration, public administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Experience with federal healthcare or military medical education environments is beneficial.
