Job Description

Practice Coordinator Maryland Integrative Rheumatology and Wellness Towson, Maryland Pay:
$30.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule:
30 weekday daytime hours per week to start, plus occasional evening or weekend hours for group programs. The position has the potential to grow into full-time work as the practice grows.
Benefits and other compensation:
Two weeks of paid time off plus major holidays. Paid sick leave. Tax-free reimbursement toward an individual health insurance plan. Access to the practice's wellness and movement programming. No call. A retirement plan is anticipated in the practice's second year. A discretionary bonus may be offered based on performance. No commission or equity compensation. I am a rheumatologist opening Maryland's first integrative rheumatology practice in Towson this November, and I am looking for someone to help me build it. We combine comprehensive rheumatologic care, the diagnosis and management of autoimmune and inflammatory disease, with the tools of integrative medicine, including breathwork, nutrition, movement, and mind-body practice. Patients come to us for both. This is not a typical medical office job. We operate through a direct specialty care model, with membership and fee-for-service care rather than insurance. Appointments are intentionally longer than those in most practices because this kind of care takes time. There is no phone tree and no productivity target. Patients come to us because they want to be listened to, and the person who first greets them is the first proof that we mean it. At the beginning, it will be the two of us, which means you would do a little of everything: welcoming patients, managing a schedule that includes clinical visits, wellness sessions, and group programming, answering the phone, rooming patients and taking vital signs, managing memberships and payments, ordering supplies, and helping me build the wellness calendar. You would also assist with our patient newsletter and website updates. This is a new practice, and we will refine some of our processes as we grow. We will be working side by side. I am looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, brings me good ideas, and wants to grow with the practice. What I am looking for Experience in a physician's office, ideally two years or more, including clinical responsibilities such as rooming patients and taking vital signs. A warm, clear, and thoughtful communicator. Many of our patients have spent years feeling dismissed by the medical system. How they are greeted matters. Someone comfortable with ambiguity and comfortable asking questions. This practice does not exist yet, and some days will involve figuring out a process nobody has written down. Strong written communication skills. You will communicate with patients directly by email and help with our newsletter. Comfort with technology and the ability to learn new systems. We use Elation for our EHR, Flodesk for our newsletter, and Squarespace for our website. I am learning these systems myself as I build the practice, so I need someone who can pick up new software quickly and is comfortable figuring things out rather than waiting to be shown. Preferred but not required Medical assistant certification and experience in a membership, concierge, or direct care practice are helpful but not required. If you do not have those qualifications but have helped run a small office well, I want to hear from you. A note on the schedule Your regular schedule will be 30 hours per week, primarily during weekday daytime hours. When we offer group wellness programs, there will be occasional additional evening or weekend hours. These are paid hours in addition to your regular schedule, and the dates will be provided well in advance. Start date Late October or early November 2026. To apply Please send your resume and a short note telling me why this kind of practice appeals to you. I read every one. Maryland Integrative Rheumatology and Wellness is an equal opportunity employer.
