Please note: The salary range above represents this position's earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $59,897 to $77,015 , based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Public Health Services is currently recruiting a dedicated, enthusiastic professional to serve as a lead clinic technician for the HIV/STI Program in Public Health Services. The candidate must be positively customer service and team oriented with excellent phlebotomy/venipuncture skills. The ability and experience to work with an interdisciplinary team is highly desired. The Community Health Clinic Technician (CHCT) Lead is a pivotal position in the Montgomery County MD HHS program. This position provides lead level guidance to Community Health Clinic Technicians, who work as members of the health clinic team in a medical clinic/office setting. Performance involves contact with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, Community Health Nurses, Physicians, other health care support staff as well as external customers. This is not a supervisory role. Duties and core responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Providing guidance, assistance, support and training to Community Health Clinic Technicians (CHCTs) at the Dennis Avenue Health Center and Germantown clinics. Serving as primary contact for lab vendors and courier services/personnel. Ensuring timely pick up of specimens and reporting problems to the manager Contacting courier for delays in specimen pick up. Notifying receiving lab vendor of any delays in specimen drop-offs. Performing the duties of a CHCT, which involves conducting a variety of health screening tests, and assisting Community Health Nurses and Physicians in the operation of clinics Setting up clinical areas with the necessary supplies, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, obtaining blood pressures, vitals and weights, assisting Physicians/Providers and the clinic team Serving as point of contact for lab vendors and courier service. Preparing lab specimens for daily pick up. Maintaining Lab Accession room in warehouse. Serving as point of contact for annual clinic equipment calibration. Responsible for programming incubator. Responsible for overseeing removal of biohazard materials/red bags. Providing phlebotomy assistance to other communicable disease programs as needed.
Experience:
Three (3) years' experience working in a clinical setting, including one (1) year in a position comparable to that of the County's Community Health Clinic Technician . Positions comparable to a Community Health Clinic Technician typically include duties such as preparing patients for examination, taking vital signs, performing venipuncture, collecting and preparing specimens, assisting providers during clinical procedures, and supporting daily clinic operations.
Education:
Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland. Successful completion of a phlebotomy course of training, and training in blood pressure determination.
Equivalency :
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Medical Protocol:
This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment medical evaluation, which includes a physical examination and drug screening. The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas: Experience performing venipuncture and preparing specimens for diagnostic testing in a community or public health clinic. Experience guiding clinic technicians and supporting day-to-day clinic operations. Experience coordinating specimen logistics with laboratory vendors and courier services. Experience working effectively with diverse populations in a clinical setting. Experience using Electronic Health Records to support clinical workflows. Experience coordinating equipment calibration, programming incubators, or supporting clinical equipment maintenance.
