Phlebotomist/Patient Care Coordinator - Part-Time Life IV Weight Loss | Tecumseh, Michigan Life IV Weight Loss is actively seeking a highly motivated, dependable, and compassionate Phlebotomist/Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing medical weight management practice part-time. This unique position combines phlebotomy and basic clinical support with patient care coordination and administrative responsibilities. Because blood draws represent only a portion of this position, the successful candidate must also be comfortable performing patient care coordination and administrative duties between clinical responsibilities. High school diploma or equivalent Training and experience performing venipuncture and blood specimen collection Ability to safely and confidently perform blood draws independently Strong communication and customer service skills Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical record systems Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements Preferred Qualifications Phlebotomy certification Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or similar healthcare credential Previous experience in a medical office, outpatient clinic, primary care office, laboratory, wellness clinic, or weight management setting Experience obtaining and documenting vital signs Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) Experience with insurance eligibility verification or other medical office administrative responsibilities Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to multitask efficiently in a growing outpatient practice Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team Responsibilities and Duties The Phlebotomist/Patient Care Coordinator will play an important role in supporting our providers and patients while helping maintain efficient day-to-day clinical and administrative operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Phlebotomy & Clinical Support Performing venipuncture and collecting blood specimens as ordered by healthcare providers Accurately identifying patients and labeling specimens Preparing, processing, and packaging specimens for laboratory pickup or transport Maintaining appropriate phlebotomy and laboratory supplies Following infection prevention, bloodborne pathogen, and specimen-handling protocols Rooming patients and preparing them for provider visits Obtaining and documenting blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, weight, height, and other routine measurements Reviewing and updating patient medication lists and identifying discrepancies for provider review Collecting and documenting relevant patient information prior to provider visits Administering standardized patient screening questionnaires as directed Accurately documenting collected information within the electronic medical record Cleaning and preparing patient care areas between visits Maintaining clinical supplies and notifying appropriate team members when supplies need to be reordered Patient Care Coordination & Administrative Support Verifying patient insurance eligibility and coverage information Assisting with patient scheduling and appointment coordination Preparing patients and charts for upcoming appointments Ensuring required forms, screening questionnaires, and documentation are completed Assisting with obtaining medical records and other information needed for patient care Supporting prior authorization and insurance-related workflows as assigned Communicating professionally with patients by phone, electronic messaging, and in person Helping patients navigate routine questions regarding appointments, forms, laboratory testing, and practice processes Coordinating follow-up tasks as directed by providers or clinical leadership Collaborating with providers, clinical staff, and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flow Assisting with general office operations and other duties as needed Ideal Candidate Traits We are seeking someone who: Is confident and skilled in performing blood draws Enjoys interacting with patients and providing excellent customer service Maintains a positive and professional attitude Is dependable and punctual Demonstrates compassion and empathy toward patients Has excellent attention to detail Is comfortable balancing clinical and administrative responsibilities Takes initiative and approaches problems proactively Is organized and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities Is comfortable learning new technology and workflows Adapts well to change within a growing healthcare organization Values teamwork, communication, and accountability Work Environment This position operates in a professional outpatient medical office environment.
