Job description Eye Associates of Central Minnesota based in St. Cloud, Minnesota, is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler / Patient Coordinator. At Eye Associates, we pride ourselves in providing superior experience for our patients and a pleasant work environment. We work closely with area physicians, health care providers, and optometrists to provide the best possible medical and surgical eye care for our patients and patients who are referred for consultations. We have all the finest ophthalmic equipment and provide a very comfortable office and environment for you. We have an easy-to-use medical record system that makes patient care a pleasure. We are open during regular business hours, no weekends. We will consider applicants who require on-the-job training to perform some of the skills needed. Responsibilities of a Surgery Scheduler / Patient Coordinator include: Maintaining surgical schedules for surgeons. Consistently scheduling surgery days to the mutual satisfaction of the patient, the surgeon, and the facility staff. Understands and communicates well to patients about cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, lasers, and oculoplastic procedures. Communicating with patients regarding pre-op testing and visits. Scheduling of pre-op and post-op visits. Scheduling of referrals, lab work, radiology, and any other special testing. Understands and follows procedures for surgical and procedural consents. Preparing requests for the receipt of medical records incoming and outgoing from the clinic. Answering a multi-line phone system. Cross-training and helping with other tasks throughout the clinic. Able to consistently display a positive rapport with fellow employees, management, and outside clinics and facilities. Important characteristics for a successful candidate:

  • Efficiently uses time to create a smooth and pleasant patient flow, both for the doctors and the patient.

  • Cheerfully performs tasks as assigned by your supervisors.
  • Communicates with patients what is happening at all stages.
  • Have a general understanding of eye anatomy, refractive errors, diseases.
  • Preserves patient confidentiality and understands HIPAA.
Minimum necessary qualifications are:
  • High school diploma.
  • At least two references.
  • Passing a background check.
  • Good work history.
  • Physically able to assist patients, push wheelchair, etc.
  • Reliable transportation, and punctuality.
