Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
Manage all patient referrals from start to finish. Receive and process provider-ordered referrals. Contact specialist offices and coordinate referral appointments when required. Obtain and track referral authorizations, insurance requirements, and other necessary documentation. Follow up on outstanding referrals to ensure patients are scheduled and referrals are completed. Maintain accurate referral tracking and communicate referral status to providers and staff. Receive incoming medical records, reports, hospital records, specialist notes, test results, and other patient documents. Scan, upload, and correctly file all incoming documents into the patient's EMR chart. Ensure documents are attached to the correct patient and appropriate chart location . Review incoming documents for proper routing to the physician or appropriate clinical staff. Monitor incoming faxes and electronic documents and ensure they are processed promptly. Assist with maintaining organized and complete patient medical records. Assist the front desk with answering incoming telephone calls when the phones are not answered within the expected timeframe . Take accurate messages and route calls appropriately. Provide front-desk assistance when there are staff absences, or as needed. Assist with patient scheduling and other administrative duties when necessary. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and office policies at all times. Work closely with providers, clinical staff, front desk, pharmacies, specialists, hospitals, and insurance companies. Preferred Qualifications Previous medical office experience required . Previous front-desk experience preferred . Experience processing medical referrals and authorizations strongly preferred . Experience working with an EMR/EHR system . Experience scanning, uploading, indexing, and routing medical records. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent telephone and communication skills. Professional and courteous interaction with patients and other healthcare offices. Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team. Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality. Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
