Job Description
The Merrick Medical Center (MMC) Ambulatory Services Director is responsible for the planning, provision, and allocation of functional resources necessary to carry out the day-to-day operations of Merrick Medical Center's family practice clinics, and designated hospital-based service lines. These responsibilities are accomplished by establishing appropriate performance standards, qualifications, and expectations. Responsible for the proper planning and allocation of resources under their control to include the preparation and monitoring of the annual operating budget and objectives consistent with Merrick Medical Center's strategic plan. All duties are performed consistently with Merrick Medical Center's Core Values and Beliefs. The Ambulatory Services Directors principal duties and responsibilities include: Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. Serves as service excellence champion including the implementation, competencies, and hardwiring of service excellence initiatives. Performs service excellence initiatives through modeling, AIDET, Managing Up, 10/5 Rule, and Service Recovery when applicable. Oversees formulations of division goals and objectives, plans and programs in alignment with the overall Medical Center goals and objectives, plans and programs; ensures plans and programs are properly executed and an effective feedback process is utilized which communicates the overall condition and trends in each area and all-important activities affecting them. Oversees performance standards/metrics for each of the departments under the Director's supervision and evaluates the performance against the standards; coaches and assists the managers in improving their planning and performance. Ensures consistent leadership among department managers and ensures unification of departments under the Director's supervision. Promotes effective communication, collaboration, quality, and efficiency between departments and managers throughout the medical center and clinics. Provides leadership and oversight in service line growth and development in each department under the Director's supervision. Oversees the departmental budgetary procedure for each department under the Director's supervision to ensure proper operational and capital planning; appropriate and efficient use of resources; and consistent compliance to budgetary and fiscal controls. Responsible for the overall provider satisfaction results in each department under the Director's supervision. Works with and through others to get positive organizational results. Responsible for the overall quality of care delivered to patients within the departments under the Director's supervision, including implementation, execution, follow-up, and alignment with the overall Medical Center's quality objectives. Coordinates compliance with the Rural Health Clinic (RHC) status for the medical clinics. Coordinates reporting to all Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) in which the RHCs participate and ensures compliance with the goals and objectives of the ACOs. Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating managers including professional development of the department managers. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Participates in and/or leads meetings, committees, strategic planning and lean projects as assigned. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have served in a leadership role with progressive responsibility for a minimum of five (5) years in a healthcare setting. Must have a bachelor's degree in business administration, Nursing, Allied Health or other directly related field of study, master's degree is preferred. Must have strong leadership and operational experience.
