Our broader portfolio also includes hospitality properties, restaurants, and other operating businesses. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Manager who wants to build a long-term career with our company. This is not a basic bookkeeping position. The person hired will take ownership of our day-to-day accounting, maintain accurate books across multiple businesses, prepare meaningful financial reports, and help ownership understand the financial performance of the company. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, working directly with company ownership, improving accounting processes, and growing into a larger leadership role as the company expands. Position Overview The Accounting Manager will oversee the company's bookkeeping and accounting operations across multiple real estate and hospitality entities. This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the monthly close, preparing property-level and company-wide financial reports, and coordinating with our outside CPA, tax professionals, banks, property managers, and other business partners. The ideal candidate has strong QuickBooks experience, understands financial statements, and can do more than simply enter transactions. We need someone who can identify issues, reconcile accounts, organize financial information, improve our processes, and provide management with timely and understandable reporting. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping for multiple business entities Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in QuickBooks Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable Record deposits, expenses, loan payments, transfers, and intercompany transactions Perform monthly bank, credit card, loan, and balance-sheet reconciliations Lead the monthly and year-end closing processes Prepare monthly income statements, balance sheets, and cash-flow reports Prepare property-level and business-level profit-and-loss statements Create consolidated financial reports for ownership Track rental income, tenant payments, outstanding receivables, security deposits, and operating expenses Assist with commercial lease accounting and common-area-maintenance, or CAM, reconciliations Monitor mortgage payments, property taxes, insurance, utilities, and recurring property expenses Track capital expenditures, construction costs, renovations, and major property improvements Reconcile restaurant and hospitality revenue with bank deposits, merchant processors, and point-of-sale systems Assist with payroll reporting, sales tax, occupancy tax, and other recurring filings Maintain vendor records, W-9s, 1099 information, and supporting documentation Prepare annual accounting schedules and documentation for the company's outside CPA Coordinate with the CPA on tax returns, year-end adjustments, and financial questions Develop budgets, cash-flow forecasts, and comparisons of actual results against budget Provide ownership with clear explanations of financial results, unusual expenses, cash needs, and significant variances Improve accounting procedures, reporting systems, internal controls, and document organization Help management evaluate the profitability and financial performance of individual properties and businesses Maintain confidentiality regarding company, employee, tenant, and ownership financial information Qualifications At least 5 years of bookkeeping, accounting, property accounting, or financial-management experience Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Experience preparing and reviewing income statements, balance sheets, and cash-flow reports Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general-ledger accounting, and account reconciliation Experience completing a monthly financial close Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets Ability to manage accounting for multiple entities, properties, or locations Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to organize financial records and meet recurring deadlines Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-accountants High level of integrity, discretion, dependability, and professional judgment Ability to work independently while communicating regularly with ownership Interest in building a long-term career and growing with the company Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field Experience with commercial real estate, property management, hospitality, hotels, or restaurants Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions Experience with commercial leases, tenant billing, rent rolls, and CAM reconciliations Experience coordinating with outside CPAs and tax professionals Experience with payroll systems, point-of-sale systems, merchant processors, or property-management software Experience creating budgets, forecasts, and management reporting packages A CPA license is helpful but not required. We are primarily looking for practical experience, strong accounting knowledge, ownership of responsibilities, and a long-term fit. What We Offer Stable, full-time position with a growing privately held company Direct access to and regular interaction with company ownership Opportunity to take ownership of the accounting function Exposure to commercial real estate, hospitality, restaurants, and other operating businesses Opportunity to improve systems and help shape the company's financial reporting Long-term growth potential as the company and portfolio expand Competitive compensation based on experience The Right Person for This Role The right candidate is not someone who simply waits to be told which transactions to enter. We are looking for someone who takes responsibility for the accuracy and organization of the company's books, notices when something does not look right, follows through until issues are resolved, and gives ownership a clear view of the company's financial position. This person should be comfortable handling routine accounting work while also thinking at a higher level about reporting, cash flow, budgets, controls, and business performance.
