Under the direction and supervision of the Attending Physician in the Surgical Department, the Supervisor APP (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is responsible to manage a variety of patients in the surgical setting. The Supervisor, APP provides direct and indirect patient care optimizing patient safety to surgical patients. Administratively supervises activity of all of the surgical APNs/PAs. Administrative duties include managing other APNs and PAs in the department including, but not limited to, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, providing timely feedback and support, and ensuring appropriate utilization of APN/PA's throughout the hospital. The Supervisor, APP oversees daily departmental operations, works closely with the APNs/PAs in the department and acts as a liaison between the APPs, surgeons and hospital leadership.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Successful completion of an approved physician`s assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education. 2. Master`s degree. 3. Completion of Institution required Manager training. 4. Maintains PA delineation of clinical privileges for surgery via annual review.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. Advance Practice Nurse License or Physician Assistant License. 2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification. 3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
