Hospital Manager - VCA Colonial Animal Hospital | Ithaca, NY Join a Premier Veterinary Hospital VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is a leading multi-specialty veterinary hospital located in Ithaca, New York. As an AAHA-accredited and Fear Free hospital committed to providing exceptional patient care, advanced medicine, and outstanding client service. For more than 50 years, our General Practice service has cared for pets throughout the community. Today, we also offer specialty services in Surgery, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Radiology, and Emergency Medicine. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we serve patients, pet owners, and referring veterinarians across the Finger Lakes region and beyond. Our hospital is supported by a dedicated team of more than 70 professionals, including experienced veterinarians and New York State Licensed Veterinary Technicians who are passionate about delivering high-quality care. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Hospital Manager to partner with the Hospital Director and Medical Director to lead hospital operations, develop our teams, and support continued growth and excellence. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with exceptional organizational, financial, and communication skills who is committed to creating an outstanding experience for our clients, patients, referring veterinarians, and associates. This is a full-time leadership position with a five-day work week and 100% office-based responsibilities . Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Ensure excellent patient care and client service. Strengthen relationships with referring veterinarians (RDVMs). Address client concerns and promote exceptional service experiences. Support hospital culture, patient safety, and operational excellence. Team Leadership & Development Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain talented team members. Coach and develop leaders and associates. Support employee engagement and career development initiatives. Oversee staff performance and accountability. Financial Management Manage accounts receivable, billing, charge capture, pricing, and coding. Monitor financial performance and support budget goals. Ensure operational efficiency and resource management. Compliance & Safety Oversee OSHA compliance and workplace safety programs. Develop and implement hospital policies and procedures. Support risk management and facility maintenance initiatives. Program Oversight Provide leadership oversight for: Refferal Manager CSR Manager Office Manager RDVM & Client Experience Programs Manage contingent workers and extern programs. Support employee onboarding through Workday QualificationsRequired 3-5 years of management experience, including recruiting, hiring, training, and performance management. 3-5 years of customer service and financial management experience. Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Veterinary, healthcare, or hospital management experience. Experience working in a specialty or emergency hospital setting. Why VCA Colonial?
