QUALIFICATIONS
A valid NYS School District Certificate as an Administrator (SDA or SDL). A valid NYS Certificate as a Teacher in Physical Education. Health certification preferred. At least three (3) years of satisfactory teaching experience in physical education/health. Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience preferred. In-depth knowledge of NYS Standards pertaining to physical education/health and their integration within K-12 curriculum. Experience with interscholastic athletics including coaching, program administration and supervision of coaches preferred.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer and enforce all provisions of law, Commissioner's Regulations and Board policies pertaining to all facets of the Health/Physical Education program of the District, including Title IX compliance. While teaching and nursing staff report directly to the building principal, the director will collaborate with the principal on all aspects of supervision. Provide leadership in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum to improve the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of District students. Develop a student-athlete academic monitoring and tracking program to assist student athletes in meeting their educational goals with collaboration of Building Principals. Prepare, administer, and monitor the interscholastic sports and intramurals budgets. Assist in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning and evaluation of the district's health, physical education teachers and district nurses. Supervise the recruitment, selection and evaluation of assigned staff in accordance with District procedures and up-to-date job descriptions. Supervise the coordination, organization and scheduling of all interscholastic contests, scrimmages and practices including facilities, equipment, transportation, officials, and support staff. Coordinate the scheduling of physical examinations of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season to include all aspects of the Athletic Placement Process. Direct the purchasing, cleaning/maintenance and reconditioning of interscholastic athletic equipment. Provide interscholastic athletic equipment and supplies to head coaches and develop/monitor a system for accountability and inventory. Arrange for the payment of coaches, support staff and officials through the payroll office. Plan in-service programs for teachers, support staff and coaches in the area of first aid, coaching certification, life-saving and related areas in order to ensure that all staff hold the appropriate, up-to-date certificates for their areas of responsibility. Act as liaison between the coaching staff and the supervisors of transportation/buildings and grounds, and principals. Plan, organize and direct the implementation of intramural activities. Work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and support staff to develop an effective staff development program. Act as a liaison between school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the schools and encouraging community participation in school programs. Establish guidelines for high standards of student conduct and maintaining discipline. Keep abreast of trends, developments, education law, court decisions and Board regulations as they pertain to the health, physical education, and interscholastic program. Attend or assign faculty manager/site supervisor for all home interscholastic sports contests. Attend away contests at the direction of the Superintendent of Schools. Attend ECIC, Section VI and other interscholastic athletic meetings as the District's representative. Keep the Superintendent, Staff and Board Members informed of student activities, problems, and achievements. Be visible and accessible to staff and students. Implement in-service programs for exposure to blood borne pathogens; AED Emergency plan and protocol; concussion assessment, treatment, management, and program; and other related topics. Serve as Chairperson on the District Safety Committee. Serve as Chairperson on the District Health & Wellness Committee.
