Position Description About The Kakos School of Arts and Sciences:
The Kakos School of Arts and Sciences is a vibrant, interdisciplinary community of student and faculty scholars working together to advance excellence in research, teaching, and learning. We combine Lasallian values with a person-centered approach to education to cultivate transferable critical thinking and scientific inquiry skills. Approximately 85% of our graduates either find employment or enroll in a graduate program related to their field of study within a year of graduation. The Department of Kinesiology and Health at Manhattan University invites applications for a Visiting or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor and Program Director of Public Health and Health Sciences. We seek dynamic educators and scholars from diverse specialty areas who will broaden and strengthen our department's expertise, with particular interest in candidates holding credentials and experience in Public Health. This is an exciting time to join a growing and forward-looking group that alongside Exercise Science and Physical Education Programs, also offers new majors in Public Health, Health Sciences, and Healthcare Administration as well as a graduate program in Health Informatics. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in building out programs, shaping curriculum, supporting student success, and advancing program development across undergraduate and graduate offerings, including potential for
B.S./M.S.
pathways.
Anticipated Start Date:
August 24, 2026 Job Responsibilities In this role, you'll have the opportunity to: Teach foundational undergraduate courses in public health including epidemiology, health research, health disparities, environmental health, and health policy (Teaching load: 21 credits per academic year). Advise students in the Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, and Public Health Programs. Help manage the curriculum development for Health Informatics. Serve as Program Director for the Public Health, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, and Health Informatics programs. Develop and maintain an inclusive, student-centered learning environment that supports diverse learners and reflects principles of public health equity and community engagement. Provide thoughtful academic advising and mentorship supporting career preparation and graduate school pathways. Advance the fields of health sciences and/or public health by maintaining an active research program that incorporates student researchers. Participate in program assessment, accreditation processes (as applicable), and curriculum development to ensure alignment with national public health competencies and workforce needs. Contribute to departmental, school, and University service, including committee work and community or professional engagement activities consistent with the mission of public health. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Ph.D. or Ed.

D. in Public Health or related field; with special consideration for those with a strong research background. ABD candidates will be considered if they are on track to complete their doctorate by or before the date of hire. This role requires on-site attendance. Experience and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and student mentorship. Established research program with potential for student involvement. Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and student support. Collaborative approach to academic service and program development.
Supplemental Information Salary Range:
Visiting Assistant Professor:
$75,000-$80,000
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor :
$85,000-$90,000
