full-time Northwell Health is seeking a full-time Chair of Surgery at Peconic Bay Medical Center. The candidate should have 10+ years of experience. Previous leadership experience is preferred. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead and grow a surgical department serving Long Island's East End community. The qualified candidate will oversee a collaborative environment with experienced surgical colleagues and advanced practice providers. Position Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Provide leadership and oversight for all employed and independent physicians within the Department of Surgery Maintain an active clinical practice while supporting departmental growth and development Develop engagement, alignment, and collaboration among department members and with other clinical departments across the health system Lead initiatives focused on quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and program development Advance departmental growth through strategic planning, recruitment, and service line expansion Partner with hospital and system leadership on administrative, financial, and operational priorities Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, diversity, and physician engagement Candidate Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess: MD or DO degree from an accredited institution Board Certification in General Surgery (subspecialty certification a plus) Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of New York Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic or clinically integrated health system environment A proven track record of clinical excellence, physician engagement, and program growth About Peconic Bay Medical Center Founded in 1951 as Central Suffolk Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center is the largest hospital in Eastern Suffolk County, and the Eastern Hub of Northwell, the largest healthcare organization in New York State. As a non-for-profit 200-bed community hospital, we serve as the primary resource for advanced healthcare services for the 250,000+ residents of the Riverhead area, Eastern Central Suffolk County, and Long Island's East End, including our Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Suite with STEMI capabilities, Level III Trauma Center, and NYS-Designated Stroke Center.
