Job Description

Essential Job Functions:
Perform all necessary receptionist duties including answering, screening and Routing of phone calls. Take appropriate messages and ensure the proper delivery of those messages. Be polite and courteous at all times. Be able to triage phone calls and determine if urgent, give call to physician or nurse immediately. Greet and register each patient as they arrive. Verify patient demographics and insurance information into the EMR. Collect any necessary co-payments. Notify the provider/staff of patients' arrival. Schedule patient appointments. Schedule any services or procedures as needed. Maintain/prepare patient charts and physician schedule. Open and close office, if needed. Ensure
HIPAA & OSHA
guidelines are followed at all times. Responsible for observing, keeping track of the flow of patients in and out of the clinical areas without sacrificing the collection and input of correct demographic and insurance information. Verify front end coordinators are accurately tagging patients and moving them into the clinical area reviewing time management and ease of check in. Reviewing back end coordinators, making sure they are expeditiously coordinating the care of patients by capturing and executing through GEMMS all post encounter orders. Ensuring that patients are accurately registered and that all proper paperwork has been filled out completely and any waivers and/or copays have been completed and collected. Verifying monies are entered into the GEMMS (or Power Works program as necessary) and review daily payments reconciling to actual monies posted for daily deposit Category Business Support Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Location North Suffolk Cardiology -
Cardiology Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Position Requirements Qualifications:
Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Understanding of various insurance plans and the need for authorization/referrals. Intermediate level of knowledge of front desk, billing, scheduling, insurance carriers requirements, and copays/deductibles/coinsurances. Computer and/or EMR experience. At least one year of prior work experience in a medical office. Excellent communication skills. Ability to multi-task. Attention to detail.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit for long periods of time, and must have manual dexterity to work computer systems and keyboard.
