Job Description

Patient Services Supervisors at Stony Brook University Hospital are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day supervision of the patient services operations.
Essential Position:
This position is considered "Essential". The incumbent must report to work regardless of extreme weather or other conditions.
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in Hospitality or Healthcare Management, or equivalent of education and experience Food Manager Certificate (current or obtained within 6 months of hire) Minimum of 2 years experience in a kitchen leadership role. Minimum of 2 years experience in a long-term or acute care facility. Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations about hospital food service Knowledge of A la Carte/Room Service food operations Proficiency with Windows computers and software
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supervising Union employees Patient/Healthcare software experience
Program/Department Responsibilities:
Opens and closes the department following proper procedures Responsible for work schedules and meetings with employees under their direct supervision to maintain high standards Enforce proper food portioning at all times Coordinate daily meal preparation, adhering to quality standards and establishing time frames. Meets with morning and evening supervisors to discuss and resolve any issues and change Enforce departmental sanitation policy and procedures. Ensure sanitation standards, safety, and infection control procedures as required by the various regulatory agencies. Enforce timeliness of patient tray services according to departmental policy. Identify and make recommendations to improve patient meal service operation. Complete required departmental reports and records May assist in supervision duties of production employees in their absence as needed.
