Job Description
We are currently looking for a Patient Services Manager. Under the direction of the Director, the Patient Services Manager oversees the daily operations of Patient Food Services. This role is responsible for planning and supervising patient food assembly and service, as well as managing department personnel (including scheduling, hiring, training, evaluating, and performance management). The Manager ensures a high level of patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and efficient resource utilization.
Hire, lead, direct, coach, train, and develop patient services team members.
Performance Management:
Oversee employee evaluations and disciplinary actions in accordance with departmental policy.
Scheduling:
Coordinate staff scheduling to ensure optimal daily coverage and operational efficiency.
Operations & Patient Care Goal Alignment:
Establish goals and oversee the implementation of patient food service needs based on medical direction, patient population, and contract requirements.
Dietary Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to special or modified dietary restrictions while maximizing patient food preferences within diet order limitations.
Patient Relations:
Conduct regular patient visits on assigned nursing units, ensuring every patient is visited by a member of the management or professional team at least once during their stay to achieve satisfaction goals.
Service Standards:
Maintain established production, safe handling, and quality food standards.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local health/sanitation regulations, as well as Joint Commission standards, aiming for zero-deficiency surveys.
Infection Control:
Adhere to facility and department infection control, hazardous materials, and waste program protocols.
Environment Upkeep:
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment.
Safety Programs:
Actively participate in facility-wide safety initiatives, including Life Safety, Emergency Preparedness, fire/disaster drills, and Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
Quality Improvement:
Participate in facility-wide and departmental Performance Improvement (PI) programs and teams to enhance processes and patient care.
Documentation:
Complete all required logs, records, and incident reports in a timely, thorough, and professional manner.
Confidentiality:
Strict adherence to facility confidentiality, HIPAA, and patient rights policies.
Communication & Collaboration Internal Communication:
Cascade facility and department updates via staff meetings, group presentations, and written memos.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and families through conferences, individual consultation, and committee participation.
Professional Development:
Attend and participate in all departmental meetings, staff development sessions, and professional programs.
Job Qualifications Preferred:
Associate Degree (A.S.) in a related field with one (1) year of work experience including supervisory responsibilities.
Certification Requirement:
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) required if the candidate does not hold an Associate degree or higher in nutrition or dietetics.
Large Facilities:
B.S. degree in Nutrition, Hospitality Management, or an equivalent field is highly preferred.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in operating hospital Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) systems, electronic patient-care records, and standard corporate software.
Language & Communication:
Ability to read, interpret, and write professional correspondence, safety rules, and operating manuals. Confidently present information and address inquiries/complaints from staff, regulatory agencies, or clients.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and volume. Basic understanding of algebraic concepts.
Reasoning & Problem Solving:
Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Competent in interpreting instructions across written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
