The Lead Medical Assistant provides clinical leadership and support for the daily operations of the back-office team in a busy dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery practice. This role works closely with providers, the Clinic Manager, front desk, and clinical staff to coordinate patient flow, surgical workflow, room readiness, staff coverage, and daily clinical operations. Responsibilities include assisting with Mohs procedures, preparing and turning over exam and surgical rooms, maintaining infection-control and sterilization standards, preparing instruments and supplies, supporting patient care and wound care, assigning daily clinical duties, coordinating staff breaks and coverage, and helping ensure an efficient patient experience. The Lead Medical Assistant also assists with onboarding, training, and mentoring clinical staff, participates in daily huddles and staff training, provides feedback to clinical team members, and helps identify opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, accuracy, and patient experience. The role may also assist with front-desk and administrative responsibilities as needed and is expected to maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, safety, risk-management, and billing standards. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of daily clinical operations in a fast-paced surgical environment. Dermatology, Mohs, surgical assisting, and previous leadership experience are preferred.
