In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, ensuring smooth operations within the medical office environment. Duties Greet patients warmly and manage front desk operations with professionalism and enthusiasm, including scheduling appointments and answering phone inquiries with excellent phone etiquette. Verify patient insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical collections to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information accurately and review medical records for completeness. Assist with clinical documentation review, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies while managing medical records and health information securely. Coordinate patient care plans by scheduling appointments, follow-up visits, and procedures using medical office management software. Support medical coding processes by applying CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 coding standards for billing purposes. Maintain proficiency in health insurance knowledge, Medicare guidelines, and health information management practices to optimize billing processes. Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and maintaining organized medical files in accordance with clinic protocols. Collaborate effectively with clinical staff to facilitate seamless patient care delivery while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies. Skills Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks; ability to navigate electronic health records efficiently. Proven experience in medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT), and insurance claims processing with attention to detail. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities. Bilingual capabilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Demonstrated clinic or medical office experience with familiarity in healthcare administrative workflows. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reports, and correspondence. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and health insurance procedures including Medicare guidelines. Ability to perform multiple clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, typing (including 10-key), and managing electronic health records efficiently. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
