JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Works closely with site Administration, CEO and Medical Staff Leadership to support activities of the Medical Staff. Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements specific to medical staff, credentialing and recredentialing all practitioners with privileges at initial appointment and each reappointment. Maintains database, provides assistance to the SHS Credentialing Services, arranges and attends hospital/medical staff committee meetings and regional meetings, provide orientation for new medical staff members, provides executive level secretarial support for the administrative offices, and participates in professional organizations.DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Medical Staff Office provides services to both internal and external customers including health care providers, contract agencies, administration, hospital staff, management and community members. The primary scope of service for this department is patient safety, by ensuring appropriate and thorough credentialing and re-credentialing of all privileged providers at the facility. The department facilitates communications and reporting between the medical staff organization and administration and between departments and sections of the medical staff to ensure the barriers to provision of high quality medical care are addressed. The Medical Staff Office is responsible for facilitating updates to Medical Staff Bylaws and applicable administrative documents, applying regulatory agency standards and State and Federal requirements.EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree in a related field preferred. Two (2) years experience in a similar position in a hospital/medical/credentialing office and/or providing administrative support required. Current Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager (CPMSM), Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or equivalent credentials recognized by the National Association of Medical Staff Services preferred.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
