Do you enjoy a job that has clear routines, responsibilities, and expectations that are manageable and rewarding? If so, we're currently seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to join our team. Here's what you'll do: Serve as the primary administrative support for the nursing department. Answer and direct telephone calls, messages, and inquiries appropriately. Facilitate communication between physicians, nursing staff, families, residents, and interdisciplinary team members. Schedule medical appointments, consultations, diagnostic services, and transportation as needed. Maintain physician order forms, communication logs, schedules, and nursing department records. Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Monitor and maintain nursing unit supplies and forms. Prepare reports, correspondence, and meeting materials as requested. Support nursing leadership with audits, data collection, and administrative projects. Maintain resident medical records in accordance with facility policy and applicable regulations. Ensure resident records are complete, accurate, organized, and accessible. Review medical records for completeness and compliance with documentation standards. Process physician orders and ensure proper filing and record retention. Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems and paper records when applicable. Track and obtain missing documentation, signatures, and physician certifications. Prepare medical records for admissions, transfers, discharges, audits, and surveys. Maintain resident census and record tracking systems. Coordinate record requests and release of information according to HIPAA and applicable privacy regulations. Archive and purge records in accordance with retention policies.
Requirements:
Physical Requirements:
o Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs. o Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods
Work Requirements:
o Must pass a criminal background check o Must meet facility immunization requirements (e.g., flu shot, COVID-19 if applicable) o Must follow infection prevention, sanitation, and safety protocols Here's what you'll need: High school diploma or GED Previous long-term care experience is helpful but not required.
